In Ghana, Wangara is the local manager of the I & P Acceleration in Sahel (IPAS) program which is financed by the European Union.

ACHMEA

Wangara manages a USD 1.5 million loan program by the Achmea Foundation, in partnership with Solidaridad. The program is aimed at supporting Palm oil Rural Service Centers (RSC’s) who offer an integrated package of weeding, pruning, fertilizing, cleaning plantations and harvest services to oil palm farmers. A combination of resources from the Achmea loan program and the services offered by the RSCs is to help increase productivity by 400% or more. These RSCs are Nat K Limited, Greenage Limited, Jopocus Limited and AgroQuorum Limited.

The objective of the Achmea Foundation loan program is to provide direct and indirect financial support to Oil Palm regional service centers (RSCs). The goal is to collaborate and ensure the RSCs will be ready for follow-up investment by Wangara. Wangara’s role in the Achmea loan program is to ensure the due diligence and loan management at RSC level. Wangara also extends the loans locally, checks if all requirements for disbursements have been met, and ensure timely repayments of said loans.

IPAS

In Ghana, Wangara is the local manager of the I & P Acceleration in Sahel (IPAS) program which is financed by the European Union, aimed at project leaders and small enterprises in the Sahel and surrounding countries. The program is aimed at providing seed financing between EUR3,000 ad EUR 60,000 to SGBs, in order to meet their financing needs. The program also provides technical assistance to strengthen the capacities of the entrepreneurs.
The objective is to give these businesses and entrepreneurs access to the financing and skills needed to foster their development, thus promoting the creation of decent and sustainable jobs in the sub-region. It also supports entrepreneurship support structures to facilitate the preparation of entrepreneurs for investment.
